Illustration

Much like my approach to design, my illustration tends to be informed by the task at hand. If I’m working as a designer, I almost always pull for illustration to be included, even if it’s as simple as including a few organic marks or lines. Illustration can be used to convey feelings and concepts that are often difficult for clients to find in stock photography.

Some of my favorite illustration tools include pencils of all shapes, sizes and hardness, wax sticks, sumi-ink brushes, dried up pens, rubber blocks pressed into stamp pads, torn paper, and my trusty old iPad-plus-Procreate combo. My inspiration for illustration is pulled from children’s books, Sesame Street, Art Deco, circus art and design, print-making, Disney greats such as Mary Blair and Eyvind Earle, and so much more.
